What I am up to these days...

As most of you, if not all you know, I am in a foreign land studying the Word and learning practical lessons of everyday life!!! I have had to read three books in this, my first term. The last book I read really, really touched my heart. It was the story of Leonard Messenger.

His early death really sobered me, as I thought of how frail life really is. But should death visit would it be able to even half way be said of me, as Mathew Henry said of Enoch and as they said applied to Leonard, “his work was done, and done the sooner for his minding it so closely.”

“You know, I would like to be a burnt-offering for God. I’d get further. The wind would blow the ashes in all directions, and those ashes of sacrifice would speak to the people about God.” Is what he had told another Christian once. He was indeed “a noble life consumed with the love of Jesus, and whose history may be summed up in the words, ‘To live is Christ!’”

I will now add just a few random quotes I gathered throughout the book...

“Joy, joy, wonderful joy,
Peace, peace, that nought can destroy;
Love, love, so boundless and free,
All this is my Jesus to me!”

“As some rare perfume in a vase of clay
Pervades it with sweetness not it’s own;
So when Thou dwellest in a mortal soul,
All Heaven’s own sweetness seems around it thrown!

“All, all of my heart for Jesus,
My wonderful Savior!
Just as it is, forever His;
Yes, all of my life for Jesus!”
